Magazine apologises over Spears story

The National Enquirer has apologised to pop singer Britney Spears after an article printed in the magazine claimed that her marriage to Kevin Federline was over.
Spears took a case against the Florida-based National Enquirer, over a story printed in the British and Irish editions of the magazine under the headlines '"Britney marriage is over!" and "Britney and Kevin: And now their divorce!".
A retraction and apology was printed in both editions of the magazine after the National Enquirer accepted that the story was "without foundation".
"We now accept that their marriage is not over and they are not getting divorced. These allegations are untrue and we now accept Britney's position that the statements are without foundation. We apologise for any distress caused," the apology read.
Spears, who is expecting her second child with husband Kevin Federline, did not ask for damages in the case.
